I love that Vimeo is pushing YouTube to be better. Vimeo is all about high quality content, and that draws a high-quality user base, too. Whether you're uploading your own content or simply watching a video, you'll find a great experience using this site.
I wish it were as ubiquitous as YouTube, but it's not. So you kind of still have to put your videos in both places if you're going for social media reach.

Vimeo is upfront about it's requirements and constraints for uploading video. The interface is very user-friendly, and well designed. Videos are also HD capable. The stats bar is informative for the admin if they want to know how many views their video has received. Vimeo also has a higher caliber when it comes to managing uploaded content than YouTube.
When originally trying to embed the video onto my wordpress blog, I experienced some difficulty. Other than that. I have minimal complaints.

Here is a real world example of why Vimeo is great: The other day my fiance and I were looking for videos of Aruba (specifically wedding in Aruba) as we recently decided to have our destination wedding in Aruba. We check YouTube first -- tons of junk! Then we checked Vimeo -- and found a handful of really great, well-done, well-produced examples. It was exactly what we were looking for.
Not integrated as tightly with social networks and iPhone as YouTube is.

Instead of hosting all of our video content on YouTube (which has after-play ads) or our own web-servers, we host everything on Vimeo.com. It is VERY cheap for HD playing and it just works. We are able to brand it and chose everything that people are able to do. Videos can be accessible to anyone, or just a website that you embed them on. Very well done.
Their uploads can sometimes take a while, but it's not too bad.

Simple to embed to website and to set different permitions on who can see the video
Editor of video is behind some competitors in features.
Serve as storage for all my educational videos in one place with options to manage permisions for each video separetly.
I love how high quality the videos play, how easy it is to upload and organize. I also love the review tool and how easy it is for my clients to use.
I haven't had great luck with customer service when I needed it. I also dislike that the review tool is impossible to get to on certain pages (which is my most used tool!!)
Vimeo gives me a place to upload videos for review and changes from my clients. I also embedd my Vimeo videos into my website because i know the quality will be amazing!
Vimeo makes it simple to schedule live streaming events and has been reliable as a business platform for the past three years. Other than during the beginning of Covid when streaming was through the roof, we have always been able to get the job done with vimeo.
Vimeo's customer service / technical support sucks. there are no quick ways to get an answer to simple questions unless you are in the middle of a live stream. even then it was useless. I don't know if this is still the case but a couple of years ago when streaming a funeral the service went down and customers saw a screen " something's wrong in the magical forest" or something like that. It didn't go over well. Also during the peak times while our business was growing, they claimed unlimited streaming had limits based on other users stats. They would not give me a way to determine what that limit was so we could avoid it. They threatened to shut off the channel, effectively putting us out of business. I couldn't get anyone to call to speak to in person.
Vimeo provides a solid platform for all of our streaming needs.
Video editing made easy for anyone, advanced or ameateur. Intuitive navigation with ease of use to create videos using templates or from scratch. The addition of brand assets, stickers, music and configurable text allows utilization of Vimeo as the one stop shop!
I'd like to see further improvements to integrations with CRMs, such as HubSpot. Gating videos is a huge bonus, but we need the data to automatically port over to our database for follow-up.
Creation of unique video content to promote our brand.
I love how intuitive it is to make adjustments to access, share with reviewers, monetize video content, and grow an audience. Every tool is available, without a single ad. Its well worth the money spent.
The fees to upgrade to the OTT system are significant because it provides a service unlike any other. I would upgrade if we could prove the value to our community. But the cost is prohibitive for us.
Vimeo is helping us host video content behind a paywall and feature live content in a way that is always excellent. It is also helping us reach new audiences and grow our community.
I like how comments can be made directly on the video pin pointing where the changes and comments are to be made, previous versions can always be viewed and downloaded. Comments can be replied to and marked off as complete. Vimeo homepage is customizable to remove Vimeo logo when presenting to client for a more polished look for the client
Sometimes I find that the Ui Changes subtly every month or so, and gets a bit confusing, recently they added an extra click just to get to the review page, I find it unnecessary it should always be on the front page of settings so we don't have to navigate to advanced settings
A way to implement group comments on videos so that it can be applied in the next draft for the editor like myself, it is very easy to keep track of previous records and comments.
Very convenient video recording and sharing platforms, we use it internally to record any scenario or behavior and share it with the technical or other teams for onboarding or on social media for marketing purposes.
Sometimes the browser plugins are not working, and the video recording is not initiated. And sometimes is takes a lot of time to upload a short recording.
Having an easy platform to record your product or marketing videos, and easily share it internally with your team, or with your customer on the social media is absolute important. And vimeo has it all to do all that.
Vimeo has lots of storage space for our archive of videos. We use the links to add our videos to our church app.
Vimeo would be better if you could do more to edit and trim the videos. It can also take a long time to upload videos.
We can store all of our past church videos in our Vimeo archive.
We currently use Vimeo for videos that target our customers for training. We like that with Vimeo there are no ads and users aren't encouraged to leave our company page.
There isn't much I dislike about Vimeo. I think certain advanced features aren't as user-friendly as I would have liked. I was trying to use Vimeo for onboarding content and new employee training. Our IT team didn't like that I had to create a single password to share company-wide and it wasn't connected to SSO. For that reason, I was asked to move the video content to MS Stream which is a much less robust platform.
- Hosting video content around our product and industry to train and educate our customer base - Allowing us to create dedicated channels based on topics of interest - Ensuring users stay within our company's channel
Ease of use, templates, short videos, trade show customization, software feature highlight videos, onboarding
Could have more templates or different pricing for customization by video vs. montly commit since we have them once in a while
Short, quick video edits for trade shows with custom images
I love all of the options you get with Vimeo. Not just video hosting for your website or social media, but their livestream platform is the highest quality and gives you the most options. Their Livestream studio software is like having a remote studio truck running on your computer. Live events that use to take a team of 5 people can be done with one person and a computer. Their subscription and VOD options are also so easy to use to let anyone sell their video content direct to viewers.
I wish they would release more livestream features. The Livestream studio software has been on version 6 for many years. They also could do more with the client-side of livestreaming like breakout rooms, and a registration system. Their current live event management system is a little pricey and doesn't have all of the robust features you would like.
We can do live stream all employee meetings to our 2,000 global employes easily and make the production quality so high with the livestream studio software. The livestream studio software also allows you to bring in remote guests. This makes doing live events with talent in and outside of our studio seamless. The software also have video playback and GFX. We also host all of the videos for our website on Vimeo since you can control so much about the player. We love being able to push videos directly from Vimeo to our social media channels as well. It makes using the platform easy, seamless and robust.
Vimeo is one of the best video cms platform I have ever used , great community around videos , good video editing options available , the analytics feature works like a charm ,our team found analytics feature really useful apart from that any video upload and download speed is really good.
There is nothing to dislike but free version of vimeo should have atleast 10GB of limit , paid plans seems little expensive here in india , also the feed personalization I haven't got better recommendation on my feed.
We are looking for a platform to upload, manage, perform analytics on videos and vimeo seems like good option for that ! Video upload and download speed is amazingly fast.
I like that Vimeo allows us to host and share videos in a package that looks a little more professional than YouTube without as many social and discoverability features that could be potentially distracting to students in an educational context.
The new interface for editing videos is needlessly more complicated than the old one. It essentially just adds additional layers of pages that you must click through to access the old interface, which is still necessary for most critical administrative functions.
There are times when we need to share video content with staff, students, or faculty outside of our LMS or external parties that don't have access to our LMS. We have also realized that Vimeo is a valuable platform for live streaming.
The video quality is very high on Vimeo. Everything is usually crystal clear as long as the original footage was shot well. There is a big community of creators within Vimeo that are more professional and/or art-minded compared to general audience platforms like YouTube. It has remarkable tools for video management. I also like the socialization aspects of Vimeo that allow us to connect with other users directly.
They limit the amount of storage space we get on Vimeo. The paid option is great, but I don't like that my files might get deleted if I forget to make a payment to them.
We can show our videos on websites and directly through Vimeo that are high quality and can load quickly with most users. We can upload big videos fast. We can also use Vimeo to store and access many video files online. It allows us to save local storage space. This enhanced management ability is more optimized for video than our existing digtal asset management platforms. It's also more capable of embedding and other quick-launch capabilities.
Vimeo allows us to organize, post, and manage our in-house content so that we can communicate and promote to our members and followers. The features for organization within our library is easy and sleek.
Vimeo has recently added new features to their product and while they are helpful and all-in-one, transferring to their product and the information it takes to get up and running is difficult.
Vimeo is a database for our videos where we can organize and manage everything that we create. Classified videos are easy to keep from the public, but the features of accessibility for our members makes it easy to stay connected.
How easy it is to use to upload videos of a large size then cut, share or download those videos. How quickly videos upload.
That there is a size capacity on individual accounts. I also wish it was easier to sort & search for videos in my own library.
Vimeo is essential in my daily work especially since the pandemic when in person auditions are no longer happening. Vimeo is a trusted & foolproof platform to upload & share videos
