Easy to use interface that makes it each to change and update the site. The layouts look good and are easy change. It is easy to track how much traffic is hitting your site and get data on who is looking at it. The best part is the Squarespace Portfolio app. I give me an offline version of my portfolio to show a potential employer.
There needs to be more choices for photo galleries. The ones they offer are ok but I want more flexibility in customizing the ones they come with.
You can not be a freelance artist with out a website to show your work. It has become more important than the portfolio.
If you want your business to be taken seriously, I would highly recommend Squarespace. I've used other website builders, and it's much more difficult to make it look good. Squarespace gives your website a good design, and makes it very easy to edit things instantly. As an illustrator, I frequently need to update my portfolio, and need a simple and well designed website, so Squarespace is the best fit for me.
For beginners, Squarespace is fairly hard to figure out. It's not quite as user friendly for the new-be. It's also fairly expensive, but I would say worth it. While it's easy to edit, there are certain things that can be hard to make customizable, and sometimes you need to figure out the code to make it happen. I really wish it was easier to edit the way my site looked on mobile, but I found it to be pretty difficult. Other than those small issues, I think Squarespace is the best site builder out there.
As an illustrator, I needed a well designed website that was easy to edit, and Squarespace has definitely made that happen. Great portfolio site!
Squarespace is very easy to use and train others on. It''s similar to Wordpress or other website building platforms, but is a bit more templated.
Sometimes the templates can be very limiting, espeically with layout options . The 'preview' also never reflects the actual finished product which can be a bit frustrating.
Squarespace is very quick and easy.
I love the modern responsive layout themes Squarespace offers. All of them are built to automatically be responsive, which is essential for any website today. Also, the designs are beautiful. Squarespace is the best website creator program offered today. For someone who even has minimal experience, Squarespace provides a one stop shop to complete your branding/ digital experience. It makes it easy to create any type of website you need, get a custom URL, have it looking great, and even create a logo and business cards for your brand. Lastly, as someone who is a designer and a developer, I love the ability to alter the code as I see fit and not be stuck with the template defaults.
I dislike how the CMS isn't as flexible as I would like it to be. It allows you to insert your own code, which is great, but in order to change some of the styles, you are unable to do it in their style section and HAVE to alter the CSS manually in order to get your design the way you want it. Also, some of their design components aren't as flexible as I would like them to be either. You can only use the presets they offer, which still have some great options, but not enough for someone who knows what they're doing and would like to customize more. I know they have a developer section, but for someone who doesn't want to get that dirty in the dev section of the website, I would appreciate a little more customization options. Lastly, their last UX for the CMS was super confusing. Their new one now is better, but it takes some getting used to, to truly understand how it works. I think the UX of their CMS could use some improvement.
The business problems I am solving are quickly creating websites on the fly, without going through a complete formalized process. It is a quick way to create a reliable, beautiful, responsive website, without having to fully design and code it yourself. The ability to have the hosting, URL selection, and website creation all in the same place is also super helpful and essential to completing a website quickly.
The designs are outstanding and remarkably different from competitors
Sometimes editor becomes very slow. Further, you have to invest a little upfront to understanding the logic of how to add and move elements.
Building a website without the need to code.
I really appreciate the ease of UX for their interface. I like being able to tweak and adjust text boxes and images. The ease of changing individual elements in the Design mode is nice to. I want to change my header, I just click on it where it appears on the page. It looks like I spent days on it when in reality it was just one long afternoon.
Commerce. The entire section of it. I dislike the lack of Seller Protection of from their payment gateway Stripe. I dislike how difficult it is to add product. I also dislike how expensive it is for what they're charging. For only 20 products, you can practically have a full fledged Shopify store for the same price. It's ridiculous.
I needed a portfolio website, and somewhere to send my potential customers to shop my art. At the moment it just links everywhere else but it's a beautiful landing page hub.
I like all of the plug ins for the site. You can sync all of your social profiles extremely easy. The E-Commerce portion is really intuitive as well. The site is really customizable once you get used to the formatting of adding/remove pages and content. There are a plethora of support and best practices videos. They have training videos and resources to help you optimize your site visually and functionally.
It takes a bit to understand how each page is formatted. It's also pretty slow at times. I've only used a couple of other content management solutions that aren't as extensive (i.e. weebly) so I don't have much to compare this to, but it is fairly laggy at times.
Starting a snack business and trying to have a visually engaging site.
Squarespace has lots of templates that you can easily use to get a beautiful website up in less than one week.
Because Squarespace is meant for non-coders, it does not allow much customization outside of their templates.
Squarespace enables everyone to create a website even if they have zero knowledge of code. While our agency has a web developer that we use, they are expensive and some of our clients just want a simple, static brochure site that really doesn't warrant the cost of a developer. Squarespace saves us a lot of money and also makes it possible for our clients to make simple changes to their site after we complete it.
Customization + Simplicity + Innovation of Features
Poor Customer Service: each experience CS was either rude or not helpful in any way. Often the site would load an old version, even publicly for customers.
Simple, low cost, low maintenance branding, commerce, and company site.
I have used Squarespace for about 14 years now and have found their interface to be somewhat easy to use. As WYSIWYG editors go, it's fairly self-explanatory, and there are a wide range of templates to choose from.
Although Squarespace has a wide variety of templates, it's much more difficult to control the colors, font height, and find the features to edit each particular section than it was 14 years ago. Customization is not as easy as it used to be, and the wide array of templates within each style can become confusing.
I've used Squarespace in the past to write a blog, and am currently using it as a placeholder for a webpage dedicated to a business I'm building. I appreciate the insights, but there's nothing in the interface I can't find in other builders.
This platform is very easy to use, especially for beginners looking to create their website.
Going back and forth to preview your edits on the site can be annoying.
The number of templates they offer makes it easy to come up with new ideas to display your creative work.
I like that you can use it to manage email accounts for a business. Really helps a small business. It keeps everything together in one place and allows access for mutiple users.
I dislike that it seems a little unorganized and not the most user friendly. Some things are really hard to find or navigate through like the menus and options.
As much as I've used it, it seems to serve the purpose well, just could be a little easier to use. I have switched companies and no longer use this software, but I thought it was important to share my opinion.
Clean interface and straightforward to edit once you spent an hour learning it's methods
Price- it's pretty expensive for what it offers
Having a professional website so folk can see our church and what we do without employing a web team
Fantastic templates to make an easy intro into the world of running your online business or storefront. Really user friendly and intuitive, which is ideal for inexperienced designers. The end result is a beautiful front end for your customers.
Order management and scheduling is lacking. On other eComm platforms, there is an internal system for scheduling in-coming orders to ensure there is a clear dispatch date, scheduled arrival date etc. all of which can be seen by the customer. This is key to our business, but our site doesn't allow for it. Instead, we are left having to manually schedule every order that comes in via our Squarespace site.
Running a website for our business where the appearance and design of the front end matches the overall quality and appearance of the brand, our social media, and products. It was simple to create a website which reflected our overall brand ethos - which was really important to the company. Also opening up to our customers which come in via social media channels. Bringing them straight to our website and making it easy for them to navigate and place an order.
I like that squarespace can support podcast style RSS feeda
When I set up my podcast site there were quite a few extra steps to get an episode published than if I have gone through something specifically designed for podcasters
I needed a website
Squarespace is great for very simply websites with basic and clean designs because it's easy to use and easy to maintain.
The process of moving existing content blocks to different locations on your page is frustrating because the control is oversensitive and it often changes the layout of your page when simply trying to move a into a new position within the current layout.
Providing a website for our Church that is easy for visitors and members alike to navigate.
Squarespace is fairly easy and quick to get up and running. If offers some great templates to work off of and help to expedite your website setup. I also love the integrated marketing and analytics they help you better reach your customers/audience and provide insight into how your website is being used.
Some of the design features are very basic and achieving specific layouts/designs can be hard to accomplish. Had some issues with SSL when initially deploying website and held up marketing outreach and email blasts until resolved, which took a bit of time.
Getting a frontend website designed and deployed quickly to start outreach to potential customers to help build business.
The design features and templates have been really helpful for us as beginners to website design. I also have enjoyed the tutorial videos, which made it possible for me to get a great start on our website.
I wish you could mix and match the features of different templates-- it's frustrating to compromise design for function.
We're getting a lot of information on our demographics through Squarespace analytics. We make weekly changes to our website, and the editing process on Squarespace is seamless.
It’s clean, easy to use, lots of awesome templates and widgets
Sometimes it freezes up and o have to start over. The photo editor has some kinks in it
I’m connecting with my audience so well. It’s integrations allow me to do everything in one place: blog, podcast, sell products, etc
Easy to drag and drop visually appealing content that showcases your brand in a modern and sophisticated way
The squarespace template/style has become so universal that it is easy to tell when someone's used a packaged template
Squarespace hosts our website and all content that is relevant to prospective clients and talent. It's easy to showcase content and case studies that highlight our main value propositions. It's also very easy to make changes as needed and in real time.
