Ease of use and guided way of running HR and Payroll. It helps to make it easy to hire and onboard new employees but also with integrations easy to offer benefits and HR services to employees. Quickl to run payroll and employees love it as they get additional benefits.
Does not offer scheduling for hourly workers and very basic timecards only.
- Onboarding new employees - Cetral HR functions (like satisfaction surveys, performance reviews) - Bi-Monthly Payroll runs - Managing and automatically connecting to benefits tools like 401k
I love the UI, it's super easy to navigate with little to no training. I also love the G-Cal extension that imports the whole company's birthdays and work anniversaries so that I can reach out to them and congratulate them.
Benefits visibility and total compensation visibility could be improved a little. It takes a little bit of navigation to find what I am looking for in respect to those two, but it isn't bad at all.
It is very light weigh to set up for new companies and startups like ours that don't have the large tech resources and HR teams to help implement. It runs payroll, benefits and our core HR functions.
Gusto gives tools, information and resources to help run your business efficiently and with compiance. It is very robust yet not overwhelming. Highly recommend!
There were times when it was difficult to get answers or support.
Compliance, payroll managemt, tax documentation, benefits, contractors
Gustos is the best platform I've used for digital payroll and income taxes. I find other platforms like ADP to be cumbersome and unnecessarily complicated. Gusto is straightforward and provides exactly what I need.
I don't have any criticism to offer. I really like the platform.
Gusto makes payroll and tax season much easier with a streamlined platform that's designed to be user friendly.
Gusto is so easy even I can do it! The customer service is quick and accurate.
I don't like the a AI chat vs a human but I understand why it's being used.
How to keep payroll organized.
I love the Gusto as an employee to be able to change my tax withholdings, download paystubs, immediately get my W2's, see how many vacation and sick days I have and also set up a rainy day fund that earns interest (higher than my savings account). Easy to use. Don't have to wait for anything!
Hmmm... only that we didn't get it sooner!
Managing everyone's available time off without having to manually calculate anything. Getting W2's to people immediately.
Gusto is soooooo easy to use. As a small business owner paying multiple domestic contractors, Gusto is a joy to work with since there's really very little work for me to do. They take care of all the paperwork, legal/tax forms that need to be sent to contractors, get them paid on time, etc. All of my contractors really enjoy the platfom too and have never complined. I recommend it to everyone.
I can't think of anything other than if it was free for me that'd be great but then there would be no Gusto.
They make it really easy to pay my contractors while making sure I'm fully complient.
Comprehensive yet simplistic website, great customer service and prices.
Hopefully one day they will offer additional accounting and bookkeeping services.
Gusto has done a great job managing all aspects of the Payroll process, by integrating all online, the business has saved money, as compared to the payroll services I have used in the past.
Ease of use. Customer support, especially with taxes and benefits. Super easy to set up with clients and integrate with outside apps.
Would like to have the ability to be able to set up recurring reimbursements on a monthly basis. Reporting - this is getting better but would like more options. Have the ability to see the documents that were submitted for support tickets, as well as resolutions. We have multiple clients - so attaching a name with any tickets or emails specific to clients would be helpful. Could be easier entering time and other payroll data when running payroll.
Any tax notices we get from state or federal agencies we're able to submit for the customer service team to look into.
It's simply laid out, easy to find things.
The only difficulty is always needing a code sent to my phone, but its not too bad honestly.
Its my entire employee payment information hub. It solves that we do not have an accountant in house.
User friendly interface, great benefits, easy to locate important documents, and the app is a wonderful tool.
The time off section of the website seems to have some bugs. Wished it worked a little differently.
Important tax documents are easy to find. I can rely on that when I need to find something asap. It's also made it a lot easier for me to save money.
I have been using Gusto for MANY years and I would adopt them for ANY financial use of my business. Simple, intuitive and delightful!
NOTHING! Well, maybe that they don't do ALL bookkeeping :)
Payroll and taxes
As the Treasurer of a small non-profit railroad museum, Gusto has been invaluable to me. We have full-time and also part-time seasonal employees. Gusto manages all the onboarding, including new hire reports to our state agencies. Their payroll setup is very easy, and I can walk through my biweekly payroll. They generate and mail out our W-2's in early January. They present legal reminders, such as the new requirements in Illinois for earned time off and employee enrollment in retirement programs. A simple query lets me breeze through the data reporting needed for my Workers' Compensation policy annual audit. And most importantly, they keep us compliant with the paycheck withholding requirements, and the filing of quarterly tax statements with state and federal agencies. On the few times I've needed a human to answer my questions, they have been responsive. Their service is at a level where I routinely decline sales calls from other payroll and human resource support providers. They are that good.
Their web site can be a bit non-intuitive. But if I can't figure it out in a short amount of time, I've been able to call their support team.
Most of our non-profit museum administration, myself included, are volunteers. We don't know the intracies of payroll administration, or of all the forms and reports needed when we hire another employee. Gusto takes that load off my shoulders, and ensures that I as an individual and our museum as an organization are legally compliant and are paying our staff reliably.
I like that I can easily access all the information I need related to payroll in one place. The interface is bright, clear, and easy to navigate.
Multiple companies that I have worked for use Gusto and I can't think of anything that I dislike.
I love that I can easily find paystubs and W2s from current and past rolls in one place. It makes my personal financial management so much easier.
It is easy to use, cheaper than most payroll providers, and customer service is great
Many of my clients don't think they are big enough to use them and would prefer to pay for ADP and Paychex.
It is easy to use. Cheaper than most payroll providers.
Accurate keeping of hours worked, hours paid with check stub details and accumulated sick hours. Also keeps track of payable holidays. Every day use and time and hour updates. Great user dashboard and features that integrate seamlessly with my employer interface. Fast and expert support system. It is so easy to implement as a daily clock in information application system. Use it everyday.
Haven't found anything I dont't like. It provides it all:daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.
Accurate timekeeping for hours worked and semi- weekly pay stubs. Provider of W2 paperwork and end of year tax forms.
User Friendly. Easy to use. supporting teams are helpful. Cost effective
Reaching the team sometimes is difficult and takes very long
Payroll is made easy and we do not have to worry about filing payroll tax returns as Gusto takes care of it. Onboarding is made easy as employees can log in and complete the forms. Employees can view benefits, enroll online. We dont need an HR person for a small company as Gusto takes care of it
As a Gusto partner, I am empowered with a program that is continually improved by its developers and its informed tax professionals. IMO, the support staff seem acutely knowledgeable with local payroll tax and intricate labor issues common among US employers. In fact, Gusto has redefined payroll and automation and what the expectations are in this industry, and other payroll providers have had to follow suit and breakaway from the traditional fold. Small business drive about 44% of the US economy and now, payroll can meet the needs of these employers who require an easier approach to payroll that is cost-efficient and smart. Payroll is typically the #1 resource and expense/investment a business has going for it. It's also the most underestimated aspect of business accounting based on its "after-the-fact" and "unchangeable" process. What is alarming is how employers, particularly small business employers, are ignorant to managing payroll data is, as well as managing employee data when it comes to payroll. While automation has been able key to the source of Gusto's popularity, there is also an emphasis to a larger scale responsibility for this data, with 2-step verification codes and other settings. The Gusto team has been able to build a program that is simple and throughly transparent. In fact, I have recommended this platform to small business employers who need to learn to associate paychecks with benefits (whether fringe or company-wide) with HR guidelines amd with regulatory compliance. The dashboard emphasizes these associations as well. Other platforms seem to hide the internal workings of these processes, making it difficult and not "visible". Gusto provides insights with payroll data and it seems to be grounded in psychology tactics, for example with the performance tools like surveys and onboarding checklist, offer letters with all the legality languge built-in, as well as compensation people analytics, payroll estimator (offered to Gusto partners only). The integration with QuickBooks is free and a huge timesaver. The onboarding process is another timesaver and, since the employee is keying in their info, less error due to manual entry or illegible writing on the employee's part. The reporting is easy to navigate. The time tools (for tracking sick pay, holiday pay, etc.) are easy to set up, as well as the multiple pay rates for different job types. I recommend Gusto entirely with these processes.
I dislike that, during the onboarding process, there is a 'sales tactic' shift to opening a Gusto Wallet or savings goal with employees. It's a bit misleading to the employee, because they misunderstand this as being offered or prompted by their employer to use. This option should be encouraged separately and not while the employee is under the pretense that their hiring is somehow dependent on opening a financial product with Gusto, or that the employer is co-signing this as an endorsement.
Gusto has automated the process of recording payroll journal entries into our financials accounting. Gusto keeps employee data private like with SSNs, banking info, etc. Although payroll is hard-coded, the Gusto team helps identify tax adjustments and internal fixes are throughly reported to the employer in email form and in the program under 'Reports'. During COVID, Gusto offered assistance with employer tax credits and other filings that were difficult to navigate. Finally, I use Gusto People Analytics to assess numbers so I can hire with confidence.
Ease of use and very quick to run payroll, onboard, filing documents, etc.
Sometimes a wait for email customer support
Running payroll, keeping up to date with government filings, W/C, benefits.
I love the friendly and professional Customer Service Reps.
I like everything I've experienced this far.
Gusto has made the onboarding and benefits processes easier.
